Ideally located in the beautiful South Hams, Seaflowers sits between the coastal towns of Dartmouth and Salcombe. This area is rich in wildlife and unspoiled beaches, with many wonderful places to visit. Situated on the Kingsbridge to Dartmouth coastal road, there are numerous beaches, superb scenic walks, excellent pubs and restaurants, and National Trust properties all within easy reach. The below includes a selection of much-loved favourites to explore.
BEACHES
Llannacombe
A family favourite, Llannacombe is a small sandy beach, with a stream and rock pools. Popular for swimming and surfing, there are also lovely walks along the coast to Mattescombe Beach and Start Point or East Prawle.
East Portlemouth & Mill Bay
Great beaches to sail from/to or enjoy watching the water traffic from. The beach itself is large, sandy and with shallow waters to swim in. It is an easy walk from Sunny Cove, or a longer walk round the coast to Gara Rock.
Torcross & Slapton Sands
Three miles of shingle beaches, very popular for fishing. The crystal-clear waters are inviting for any keen swimmers (or dippers!). Look out for our local seal, Cecilia, who’s often seen along the shore scouting for mackerel.
ACTIVITIES
Water sports
Bring a paddle board or boat – at high tide you can launch and take yourself to Salcombe, Kingsbridge or even out to sea! The area has numerous places with lessons and kit-hire, including for stand-up paddle boarding, surfing, motor boating and sailing.
Hiking
Take a scenic walk directly from Frogmore along the creek at low tide or over the nearby fields and lanes. For those seeking adventure, the South West Coast Path is never far away, offering superb hiking. The area is also ideal for exploring Dartmoor.
Yoga
