This beautiful area is rich in wonderful wildlife, spectacular walks and un-spoilt beaches. There are many wonderful places to visit, excellent pubs and restaurants all within close proximity.
Salcombe is a picture perfect town, located in the most southerly part of Devon, offering something for everyone. Sailing, kayaking, power boat hire are all popular and readily available. A leisurely ferry trip, a rugged coastal walk or simply a picnic on the beach.
Slapton Ley freshwater lake forms part of a nature reserve and is popular with bird watchers.
Dartmouth – the Jewel of the South Hams has ancient narrow streets house boutique shops, art galleries and delicatessens. Sail, fish, explore by boat or come at festival time. Take the steam train ride to Paignton for a treat or enjoy visits to the Castle, Britannia Royal Naval College and National Trust Gardens.
Of the many local beaches Llannacombe is our favourite, a small sandy beach, with a stream and rock pools. Popular for swimming and surfing, there are also lovely walks along the coast to Mattescombe Beach and Start Point or East Prawle.
East Portlemouth & Mill Bay are great beaches to sail from/to, Mill Bay is an ideal spot for watching the water traffic. The beach itself is large, sandy and with shallow waters to swim in. It is an easy walk from Sunny Cove, or a longer walk round the coast to Gara Rock.
Torcross & Slapton Sands are good long shingle beaches very popular for fishing.
Bantham has a large sandy beach, good for surfing with fabulous views of Burgh Island.
